The designs may not be mass produced by may be handpainted for fun or profit. This is a clear statement and allows the painter to use the patterns as desired, a plus in my opinion when we know where we stand.

The paints used are Deco-Art Americana but could easily be converted to whatever brand you prefer. A source for all wood and supplies used in the book is given in the front which is also a plus.

General Instructions and Techniques used are in the front of the book and are clear and concise. The step by step worksheets are set out well and cover every thing needed and easily interpreted by a confident beginner . The line drawings are of very good quality and easy to follow. All painting instructions are also very clearly written and easy to understand. There are 3 kinds of roses used in projects and each is simple to understand and achievable, plus some very nice other flowers. There is also some lace and ribbon

The projects include:

Dove House, painted on a cupboard with a flat door which could be adapted to other surfaces easily, has an English style cottage and a garden and some doves,
Light for a window, painted on a candle English Afternoon Stacking boxes. Titled "The passing parade" with Swans, a cottage, and an English naive style country scene.
Larkspur Cottage, painted on a welcome sign, Card Box and Clock Flint Cottage Tray, another lovely cottage on a tray with a lovely border of small roses.
Cherubs and Garlands, painted on a Jewel Box, Potpourri Holder and Tissue box cover (this is my favourite) Roses and Lace Cake stand, potpourri Holder and napkin holder (or maybe this is my favourite) Parlour Dogs which could be painted on bookends and a Puppy love Clock.

I consider this book to be of excellent quality and exceptional value for money from a very talented diverse artist and a must for the painters library from those who simply like to look at pretty books to those wanting to paint all manner of pretty things and would say the projects are all achievable by any painter from a confident beginner up and highly recommend it.
